    What the One Piece Card Game is

    Bandai's One Piece Card Game launched in Japan in 2022 and has become one of the fastest-growing trading card games in the world. It's built around the characters of the anime and manga, and the art is a big part of the appeal: alternate-art Leaders, manga-panel rares and special parallels are what collectors chase.

    It's also a good game. You pick a Leader, build a 50-card deck around their colour, and use a separate deck of 10 DON!! cards as your resources. Games are quick, the rules are easy to pick up, and the starter decks are cheap.

    Japanese or English?

    This is the biggest decision, and the price gap is huge. At Brickmak today:

    • OP-14 The Azure Sea's Seven: AED 449 in Japanese, AED 1,349 in English.
    • EB-03 Heroines Edition: AED 699 in Japanese, AED 1,699 in English.

    The cards and artwork are the same; the text is in Japanese. If you collect or open for the pulls, Japanese gives you two or three boxes for the price of one. If you play at English events, buy English.

    What to buy first

    If you want to play

    Start with a starter deck like Blue Buggy (ST-25). You get a full deck and a Leader, and you can play your first game the same day. Then add booster packs from the newest set to upgrade it.

    If you want to open packs

    Buy a Japanese box of the newest main set. Right now that's OP-17 The World's Strongest Warrior at AED 699, or OP-16 The Time of Battle at AED 499.

    If you collect

    Extra boosters and The Best boxes are where special art concentrates. EB-04 Egghead Crisis, PRB-02 The Best Vol. 2 and the Premium Card Collections are popular with collectors. Older main sets like OP-06 Wings of the Captain get harder to find once they go out of print.

    How do I tell a real One Piece box from a resealed one?
    Check that the shrink wrap is tight and neat with clean seams, and be wary of prices far below the market. Every box we sell is factory sealed.
