    Quick answer

For sealed English and Japanese boxes delivered anywhere in the UAE, buy from a specialist store that guarantees factory-sealed product and accepts returns. Toy shops are fine for the odd pack or tin. Be careful with marketplace and social media sellers, where resealed and fake product is most common.

    Your options at a glance

Where Good for Watch out for
Toy and department stores Loose packs, tins, gifts on the spot Mostly English, limited range, new sets sell out fast
Specialist card shops Playing, events, advice Range and prices vary a lot between shops
Online specialist stores Booster boxes, Japanese product, delivery Check they guarantee sealed product and take returns
Amazon and Noon Convenience, fast delivery Third-party sellers vary; check who's actually selling
Marketplaces and Instagram sellers Single cards, older sets Highest risk of resealed boxes and fakes; usually no returns

    Toy and department stores

Big toy chains and hypermarkets across the UAE carry Pokémon, usually English booster packs, tins, bundles and the occasional Elite Trainer Box. They're the easiest option if you need a gift today. The trade-off is range: you'll rarely find booster boxes or Japanese product, and the newest sets often sell out in days.

    Specialist card shops

Dubai and Abu Dhabi have a growing number of hobby stores that sell trading cards and run play nights. They're the best place to learn the game, trade and meet other players. Ranges and prices vary from shop to shop, so it's worth comparing before you buy a box.

    Online specialist stores

This is where you'll find the widest range: English and Japanese booster boxes, Elite Trainer Boxes, premium collections and older sets, delivered to your door. Before you order from any online store, check three things:

    • A sealed guarantee: do they clearly say everything is factory sealed?
    • A real returns policy: can you return an unopened box if something is wrong?
    • Clear delivery and payment terms: delivery costs, delivery areas, and whether they offer cash on delivery.

At Brickmak, every box is factory sealed, delivery is free on orders over AED 100, you can pay cash on delivery from AED 50, and unopened items can be returned within 14 days, with our courier collecting them free.

    Amazon and Noon

Both carry Pokémon and deliver quickly. The catch is that many listings come from third-party sellers, and quality varies. Before you buy, check who the seller is, their ratings and the return terms. Be extra careful with listings for expensive or sold-out sets at prices well below the market.

    Marketplaces and social media sellers

Dubizzle, Facebook groups and Instagram are great for buying single cards and trading with other collectors. They're also where resealed boxes, searched packs and fake cards turn up most often, and there's usually no way to return anything. For sealed product, buy from a business that stands behind what it sells.

How to spot fake or resealed Pokémon product

    • Shrink wrap: factory wrap is tight and neat with clean seams. Loose, wrinkled or doubled-up film, burn marks or glue are red flags.
    • Price: if a box is far cheaper than at every other shop, there's usually a reason.
    • Loose packs: check the crimped edges at the top and bottom of each pack. They should be even and factory-neat, not re-glued or uneven.
    • Fake cards: they often feel thin or overly glossy, the colours look off, and the text uses the wrong font or has spelling mistakes.
    • Seller behaviour: no returns, no business details, and pressure to pay by bank transfer before delivery are all warning signs.
Brickmak tip: got a valuable pull? Sleeve it immediately, then put it in a toploader. A card that's handled loose for even a few minutes can pick up scratches and edge wear.

What a fair price looks like

Prices move with demand, but as a rough guide at Brickmak today:

    • English booster bundles (6 packs): from about AED 280, more for in-demand sets.
    • Elite Trainer Boxes: from about AED 600.
    • Japanese booster boxes: about AED 400 to 900.
    • English booster display boxes (36 packs): about AED 1,000 to 1,300.

    Where to play

If you or your kids want to play, look for hobby stores that run casual nights or official events. The official Pokémon Event Locator on pokemon.com lists sanctioned events. For your first deck, an English Elite Trainer Box or a Build & Battle box gives you enough to start.

    Frequently asked questions

Can I buy Japanese Pokémon cards in the UAE?
Yes. Big toy and department stores mostly carry English product, so Japanese boxes are easiest to find at specialist stores. We stock 40+ Japanese Pokémon products.
Why are new Pokémon sets so hard to find at release?
Popular sets are in high demand worldwide, and shelves empty fast in the first weeks. Specialist stores usually get more stock and restock more often than general toy shops.
How can I tell if a Pokémon box has been resealed?
Look at the shrink wrap. Factory wrap is tight, neat and evenly sealed. Loose or bunched film, double layers, melted-looking seams or glue marks are warning signs. If a price is far below everyone else's, ask why.
Are Pokémon cards on Amazon and Noon genuine?
Products sold by the platform or by established sellers usually are. Third-party listings vary, so check the seller's name, ratings and return policy before you buy, especially for expensive boxes.
